Circlepoint was contracted by Caltrans and the Contra Costa Transportation Commission to consult with making recommendations to improve the informational website widenSR4.org as the project was about to multiply in scale. Over a billion dollars would be invested in alleviating some of the worst traffic in US roadways and improving access for public transportation.
Initially, my recommendations were to make the website responsive and incorporate more of the content into HTML, as the website was largely made up of PDFs at that time.
In the end, we were handed the job of rebuilding the website and I was able to develop a completely new site map. The new site would be built on Wordpress and would be accessible to all users on all devices, including those with visual impairments.
The new home page would incorporate the latest tweets, informing users of traffic impacts and closures required by the project, and show the most recent developments upfront.
